Claude Puel become manager of Olympique Lyon

PARIS, June 12 - Claude Puel has accepted an offer to become manager of France champions Olympique Lyon, France Football magazine reported Thursday.

Puel said Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has agreed to leave the Ligue 1 rivals Lille and sign a four-year contract with Lyon, the magazine said on its website.

Puel is expected to replace Alain Perrin, who guided Lyon to their first National League and Cup double last season.

Seven times champions Lyon suggested earlier this month that Perrin days were numbered charge by saying a new structure is necessary and a manager with a broader mission and a long-term contract would be appointed.

Puel priority will be to help Lyon an impact in Europe at last.

The dominant force in France for years, Lyon has never advanced past the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
